The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) is a US Navy facility whose mission is to provide research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, analysis/assessment, and fleet support capabilities for undersea vehicles and systems. My work employs numerical modeling tools to understand the physics at play in a given environment for a variety of applications. Beyond fleet support, I have been involved in numerous basic and applied research projects as a team member, co-PI, and PI. Previous work focused on high-resolution and simplified modeling techniques for bolted joints and understanding the drivers of implosion dynamics in the free-field. Current work involves studies of implosion dynamics in confined environments, physics-based modeling of induction infrared thermography for NDE of sensitization in alloys, and computational modeling of marine mammal lung and melon dynamic response to underwater explosive impulse.
