In August of 2015, Mrs. Hughes joined the EHS Department at Kavo-Kerr Group in Romulus, MI. Emily is the EHS Specialist for the site, performing a wide range of duties including: maintaining compliance for the sites waste water, storm water and air permit. Leading safety trainings, coordinating lockout tagout certification, large quantity generator waste maintenance, performing job safety analysis, managing workers compensation claims, and performing incident investigations. Formerly, Mrs. Hughes was the Coordinator of the Environmental, Health and Safety Department at Johnson Matthey Testing in Taylor, MI. Her responsibilities included weekly and monthly safety inspections, writing procedures, facilitating safety training, tracking and maintaining SDS through MSDS Online, industrial noise monitoring, ergonomic assessments, lockout/tagout certification, procedure writing and updating, ISO 14001/17025 and OHSAS 18001 auditing, and general record keeping. At her previous employer, the Friends of the Rouge, Mrs. Hughes was the program manager for the well known Rouge Education Project. Her duties in that position included school recruitment, fundraising, program development, teaching, training, and social media networking for the organization. In the Fall of 2016, Mrs. Hughes began her pursuit of her Master's Degree at Eastern Kentucky University.
