I have three main duties as a Diet Clerk at The Nebraska Medical Center, the first is to accommodate patient wants and needs in order to sustain proper nutrition and satisfaction. Secondly, to uphold accuracy and efficiency in the diet office by updating patient charts and finally to maintaining effective communication with the kitchen staff to ensure timeliness and accuracy of patient meals.

My main duty as a paraprofessional was to assess and analyze students’ abilities upon entering the charter system in order to place each student in the correct level for vocabulary and math. I was also charged with maintaining a productive learning environment by handling discipline issues. I also helped to provide positive encouragement and planning tools so students could graduate or transition back to mainstream public schools.

The main purpose of my placement in the AmeriCorps was to support any staff at Valley View Elementary. My main tasks included, but were not limited to designing, organizing, and implementing a summer camp for the students at Valley View Elementary School to provide constructive summer time activities. I also collaborated with fellow volunteers to run an after school library/community center at a nearby apartment complex for students whose parents are at work. I created a curriculum to instruct inner city students how to plant and maintain a garden to broaden their education and supervised student leadership retreat.
