About Emily L. Herman

I am a creative, compassionate, and self-motivated professional able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with experience in project development, organizational leadership, cross-departmental partnerships, and data-driven solutions. I have excellent communication skills, a natural curiosity to learn new things, and a commitment to continuous improvement. I enjoy bringing positive energy to everything I do and hope to leave a little sparkle wherever I go. As a Disney leader, I had years of experience coaching, mentoring, and developing my ‘Cast Members’ to become strong business professionals. I continue to take great pride in watching the careers of my mentees soar. To supplement my entertainment and event experience, I completed my Master of Communication Arts degree while working full-time at Walt Disney World. This course of study served me well as a Production Stage Manager, managing large projects that required effective and efficient communication. Upon relocating to Texas with my husband, I pivoted my career to teaching collegiately. This work has been a gratifying endeavor to help students of all ages learn and grow in their business communication and leadership skills. I’m currently in my 4th year of teaching and recently created an Open Educational Resource textbook. My volunteer work with the Distinguished Young Women allows me to serve as a coach, academic judge, and program judge for state and local programs across the country. I also serve on the Oklahoma City University Alumni Advisory Board.I believe a leader is always learning! My research interests include leadership, employee engagement, human resource development, and change confidence.
