As an English education (grades 6-12) graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, I have gained a broad content knowledge in English language arts as well as literature. In this time, I developed leadership, management, and organizational skills that are applicable to the classroom as well as other educational environments. I have had the benefit of collaborating with educators and working with students of diverse backgrounds and grade levels across multiple districts both as a classroom teacher in the state of Louisiana and across the country as an online tutor with Brainfuse. I also developed the characteristics of flexibility and adaptability that have helped me to thrive as a new teacher during the Covid-19 pandemic.I currently work with Brainfuse as an online Instant Access tutor for the upper elementary through college grade levels, tutoring ELA, writing, and history. Through my work with Brainfuse, I have been able to work with an array of clients, many of whom come from underserved and underrepresented communities including ESL/ELL, first-generation college, first-generation American, and neurodiverse students. I completed my second year of teaching at St. Theresa of Avila School in Gonzales as an instructor of 8th grade ELA. In this second year, I also served as the PLC facilitator of the ELA department, and I was a developer of our onboarding program and a mentor to our new teachers.In my first year at St. Theresa, I was employed as the 6th-grade English, 7th-grade social studies, and 8th-grade reading instructor as well as an after care employee and St. Theresa Summer Warrior Camp co-director.These experiences have provided me with many opportunities to grow as a classroom educator gaining insight into working with students from a variety of backgrounds in an array of educational environments. I have also grown as a professional in these positions, developing collaborative skills that have aided me in my development as an instructor and have helped me to hone my craft.
