About Emily Lear
I am a Consultant Anaesthetist at Mid-Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust, a busy district general hospital. I have a special interest in perioperative medicine and perioperative risk assessment.I began my career with a specific interest in teaching, at both a local and a regional level. This includes delivering clinical teaching and teaching the basic scientific principals of clinical practice at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. As I have moved through my career, leadership has taken a more prominent position. I have been engaged with leadership and service development within preoperative assessment and have adapted these skills as Clinical Lead for Anaesthesia (governance).More recently, I have taken on the role of Deputy Associate Medical Director within the Division of Medicine and Emergency Care. I believe in health care that is free at the point of need, irrespective of whether that need is acute or chronic, and irrespective of the duration of that need. In order to support this underlying principal of the NHS, my leadership focus is on exploring innovative solutions to system and workforce issues, so that the sustainability of the services provided is ensured.
