Snowsports are in my DNA. I was raised by two ski-obsessed, hardworking laborers in the foothills of western Maine’s Sugarloaf Mountain. For my family, skiing was not a hobby or a sport, but a lifeline– for our childcare, our paycheck, our community, and our sanity. This connection to the outdoors led me to attend UVM’s Rubenstein School, where I delved into the intersection of environmental conservation and social change. As an undergraduate student, I founded Chicks on Sticks VT, building an impactful organization from the ground up. With six years of nonprofit development experience, I understand the critical role relationships play in fostering growth. From reproductive health care to youth mentorship, I have effectively managed major donor portfolios, solicited six-figure gifts, written state and federal grants, and led fundraising strategies for $1M+ budgets. Channeling my passion for film and creative storytelling, I have spearheaded two North American film tours, including more than 50 screenings of the all-women’s ski film Advice for Girls and Forever Is Now, a film commissioned by the Zion National Park Forever Project illustrating the importance of public lands. Civic engagement is the cornerstone of my personal and professional life. I have championed inclusion and mentorship and recognized the transformative power of outdoor experiences through volunteer work with organizations such as Vermont Parks Forever, Rights & Democracy, and King Street Center. As I dream big about the future – my own, my community’s, the state of Vermont’s – I am inspired by the concepts of Cleveland Justis and Daniel Student’s Don’t Lead Alone. Justis and Student’s artful guide to solving complex problems helps me recognize that I alone do not possess the skills to change the world. However, when we focus our efforts on collaboration, we can develop synergetic solutions far greater than the sum of our parts.
