Dissertation Title: Cultivating Compassion and Resilience in Police: Understanding the Stress of Responding to Domestic Violence Calls and How to Enhance Coping.Summary: My research is investigating the unique stress of policing domestic and family violence and how to better prepare police to cope with it. The proposed research will firstly investigate how police feel, how they function, and how they are affected by responding to these jobs through the development and evaluation of novel scales and the administration of a cross-sectional survey. Secondly, the findings will be used to develop and evaluate a training program that is designed to prepare new police recruits to effectively cope with and respond to domestic and family violence. The implications of this research are that it increases knowledge of how to help officers remain psychologically healthy and engaged in their work. This aims to increase their capacity to respond with compassion and sound judgement, thereby improving outcomes for victims, officers, and the police organisation.

Child Protection Investigation Register (CPOR) Evaluation Framework Project.The project is an independent evaluation of how effectively the influx of funding to CPOR is being used to monitor reportable sexual offenders and therefore help to protect children in the community from harm. Summary of my involvement: Mixed-methods research design, data collection, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, report writing. •My duties on this project included developing questionnaires of novel and standardised measures that capture staff wellbeing and their perceptions of how effectively the unit is performing in terms of identifying offending, assessing risk, monitoring, and addressing the criminogenic needs of child sex offenders. I am also involved in analysing data gathered from questionnaires and writing up the results in reports.

• Demonstrating excellent written communication skills by producing high-quality transcripts (1000+ written documents) of police interviews, body-worn camera footage, 000 calls, LEP recordings and other relevant audio recordings to be used at court for serious criminal matters.• Maintaining confidentiality of highly sensitive information. • Administrative duties including maintaining spreadsheets for weekly statistical reports.• Working independently and managing a significant workload while ensuring deadlines for transcript completion are met. • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, prosecutors, and legal clerks.
