Recent work includes the delivery of Big Issue Invest's (BII) Beyond the Cheque Initiative; establishing the effectiveness and value for money of technical assistance provided through BII’s social investment in close partnership with Co‑operatives UK's Community Shares and Unltd. Work includes an extensive literature review (publication forthcoming), development of clear use cases, creation of a data collection toolkit (developed under the principle of Creative Commons), ongoing research analysis and communications.

Technical advisor supporting Gobin Global, a values-based small business, within a variety of projects generating evidence and learning in complex environments around the world. As a group, our multinational team of experts has successfully delivered projects in more than 50 countries (including conflict-affected and emergency settings) across monitoring and evaluation, learning, market development and assessments, data, economic evaluation, financing, knowledge management, and strategic communications. We support results-oriented programming that promotes economic growth globally.

As a leading member of the Save the Children UK Impact, Innovation and Evidence team, I deliver strategic leadership on programmatic value for money in order to drive forward the uptake and application of cutting-edge methods in rigorous measurement and evaluation as part of the Evidence and Learning agenda. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Global Programmes and Save the Children International (SCI), I ensure economic analysis is systematically carried out, and embedded, throughout the programme cycle.

Responsible for project management and business development, as well as leading the design and delivery of socio-economic evaluations and research. Project management and delivery on over 20 projects. Examples include:- Project manager for a thorough independent peer-review of the technical quality and rigour of a leading international NGO: a) overarching Value for Money (VfM) analytical approach; b) IIE Analytical and Empirical Frameworks; c) programme level VfM Research Strategy, and; d) VfM Data collection tools- Project manager for a Social Return on Investment (SROI) evaluation of a health-focused HIV peer-mentoring programme.- Lead researcher on a multi-staged training and capacity-building project, developing VfM techniques including SROI, cost effectiveness, multi-criteria appraisal and cost-benefit analysis with a large international charity focusing on conservation.Business development lead. Key skills include:- Building positive, collaborative relationships with clients and associates.- Developing proposals and bespoke methodologies meeting the needs of potential clients.- Representing NEF Consulting at external events, promoting our work and disseminating research through meetings, workshops, conferences and publications.Training, technical support and capacity building:- Designing interactive and inclusive training and workshops for clients: presenting results, sharing learning, drawing direct implications for specific programme aims and objectives and demonstrating opportunities to prove and improve their work.- Translating evaluation frameworks into clear and accessible approaches to measurement through the creation of effective user-friendly tools and operational resources.- Enhancing a culture of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning within organisations by facilitating discussion through participatory research methods and encouraging team members to face challenges together.

As well as linking my MSc dissertation research with the WVI 'Securing Africa's Future' programme, my work primarily centred around analysis of how resilience objectives and practices are used to further other livelihood targets of WV generally. Further work included developing and maintaining a resilience case study library.

Using the AGLINK-COSIMO model (a partial equilibrium model of global agricultural markets), I analysed particular economic scenarios and evaluated the results. This included:· Studying the context surrounding each project, including existing (and potential) policy, knowledge of global trade links and developing awareness of how these connect· Applying acquired economic theory to the model results and briefing colleagues on key outcomes· Writing professional, targeted reports (primarily to a policy audience)· Handling large data sets in Excel and undertaking Visual Basic programming to create new tools to increase efficency· Creating and conducting presentations in cross-Whitehall meetings· Principally authoring several project reports including: o How adjustment in sugar quotas may affect the international sugar trade o The impact on global food security of a technology/knowledge transfer from the EU to BRICS in livestock feed efficiency o Analyses of results of changing crop yields on international agricultural markets o Analysis of the influence of US bio-fuel policy on global food securityI consistently received positive feedback for my work, especially in professional report writing and in presenting technical modelling outcomes to non-specialists.

Working as part of a small group of mentors at the Our Lady’s project, we engaged with year 10 girls by planning and executing a talent show together as a team, opening channels to support their GCSE exams and discussing their career choices.

Joining the project teams of a wide range of development organisations enabled me to experience many of the realities of overseas programme work. For a further four months I travelled to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, experiencing a variety of environments and adapting rapidly to the different cultural and social settings, gaining a far more holistic view of the places I was able to visit.
