In this position, I assisted with the installation and development of a potable horizontal water well with a large rig crew. I learned how horizontal directional drilling is conducted, how to run a mud system, and different methods for well development like flushing, jetting, air lifting, and pumping. I also worked on a couple of GIS projects where I digitized old drain tile maps and added corresponding attribute data as well as digitizing drain tile from aerial imagery.

I work in Dr. Benjamin Laabs' Cosmogenic Nuclide Preparation lab at NDSU where I prepare Earth materials for cosmogenic nuclide dating, conduct field and GIS mapping of glacial landforms, and apply numerical models to surface processes.

I have helped teach both introductory geology labs at NDSU (Physical Geology and The Earth through Time), and I am currently assisting with the instruction of Structural Geology. In these positions I grade assignments, help run lab activities, and assist in answering questions during class.

I have also worked in Dr. Lydia Tackett's Paleontology lab where I assisted in microfossil extraction, bivalve identifications, and paleoecological analysis. This position required attention to detail and microscopy skills, and I learned how to make thin sections. I presented this research at a national Geological Society of America conference.

I was a construction materials technician intern for Northern Technologies, LLC. For this position, I conducted field tests at construction sites including plastic concrete properties (slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight), reinforcement steel placement checks, and soil compaction with a Troxler nuclear density tester. I also conducted laboratory tests including soil moisture/density ratios (proctors), gradation analysis, and moisture density tests with the geotechnical department.
