• Perform recruitment functions through creating job postings, reviewing applicants, interviewing candidates, coordinating background checks and fitness-to-work testing as well as organizing and participating in new employee orientation• Have coordinated efforts and career fairs for mass recruitment and Co-operative education student recruitment• Facilitate accommodation and return to work process with employees, management, and the Union• Member of three Negotiation teams for various Collecive Bargaining agreements.• Member of the Tubular, Steel and Office & Technical seniority committees which look to address and resolve concerns that are brought up regarding overtime, seniority, shift schedules, etc.• Responsible for working with the operations management teams to ensure adequate staffing levels. This includes hiring for any positions needed, whether replacements or additions to staff, layoffs and recalls, as well as managing the Lines of Progression and associated bidding process, for all hourly staff.• Advising management in matters of discipline and the implementation of Incident Fact Sheets• Oversee and implement the site Attendance Management program including the tracking of absenteeism, meetings with employees and management and the offering of support to said parties.• Member of the Harassment Investigation team.• Work with Management and Union to resolve grievances. Perform functions that are associated with this including tracking grievances, gathering all relevant information for grievances, note taking at grievance step meetings and sending grievance responses to the Union. Additional research when required for arbitration.• Advise Management in all areas of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and legislation.• Create a good and respected relationship with employees, members of management and the Union.
