Program Manager: Citizenship And Diversity
Management and production of meaningful programs and program materials about topics ranging from diversity to environmental issues. Using these materials to teach Cub Scouts ages 6-10 in order for them to achieve their next rank. Boy Scouts of America requires stringent criteria in their programming and their rank achievement thus making the task of program development and performance integral to the mission of Boy Scouts of America. Through this position, I developed the ability to manage, produce programs and evaluate the success of the program. In addition to program development and management, the position also allowed for me to grow as an educator through exposure to a different educational setting and different target audience.
Peer Health Educator
Peer Health education is run through Ohio University's Division of Student Affairs in a program titled POWER/GAMMA. POWER stands for Promoting Ohio University Wellness, Education and Responsibility and GAMMA stands for Greeks Advocating for the Mature Management of Alcohol. POWER GAMMA provides education for Ohio University students about making healthy choices when it comes to topics such as alcohol, tobacco use or sexual health. Allowing Peer Health Educators to promote topics which they find to be important as well as enabling them to be leaders, activists and engaging educators. POWER GAMMA allows for Peer Health Educators to develop programs that engage students in different ways. One example of that is our Sexual health event which takes on a different theme each year, which entails that programs are adapted and transformed into various games, presentations or conversations about the educational topic.
Women'S Comedy Show Producer
Production of a show which orients itself around comedic expression and charity. This annual event falls on Mom's weekend at Ohio University. The goal of the production is to raise money for My Sister's Place which is one of the only domestic abuse shelters in Athens County. In 2016, we raised over $1,000 of for their organization and In 2017, we raised over $1,300 for the organization and we hope to make those numbers grow. Producing this show involves community engagement, advertising, event planning as well as an understanding but decisive leadership style. The show is made up of comedic sketches that are written, directed and produced by female comedians. We display videos, live acts, stand up and improv comedy. The production of content requires the ability to achieve group cohesion and motivate members to do their best. I have little experience in editing and filming content, but my strength lies in the ability to find the strengths of team members and organizing their schedules in order to meet content goals. In addition to the content production, there is an element of business operations to the show. As producer, I am in charge of how the show is marketed and how we receive funding. Though the comedians work together to come up with a name, and design the posters, stickers and other promotional content, I carry out the actions that turn their ideas into a tangible product. I contact vendors in order to figure out which can give us the best price, navigate software that gets the show University event funding, and I also manage our social media team.
Housing Ambassador Coordinator
After being a Housing Ambassador for 2 years and demonstrating excellence and commitment in my position, I was selected for a leadership role with Housing and Residence Life. The Housing Ambassador program had evolved in many ways since I was hired and I helped progress the program in ways that involve teamwork development, training of staff and management of room showing in Residence Halls. Aiding in the facilitation of Residence Hall room showings at Ohio University and engaging with new and incoming students about campus life as it relates to student experience. This position has offered me experience in problem solving, conflict management, public speaking as well as leadership and communication. In addition to my role and a leader, I also assist in the business operations team of Housing and Residence life in their office. I engage with students and their parents over the telephone in order to provide information, ease conflict through resources and help navigating housing processes. I am able to communicate in a clear and friendly manner on the phone in order to serve the students of Ohio University.
Housing Ambassador
Housing Ambassadors main goal is to help provide information about the business operations of Housing and Residence Life in order to best help students meet their housing needs.
