Environmental Partners Intern
1% for the Planet hosts over 6,0000 non-profits within their Environmental Partners Network. Many of which I assessed and onboarded throughout my time as an intern. I maintained data integrity for these over 6,000 accounts in SalesForce and conducted an audit across the network to ensure high-quality standards for carbon credit businesses and organizations. One of my most exciting and impactful initiatives, focused on connecting businesses with key environmental lobbying nonprofits for the 2024 US election cycle. This was an impact advising project that manifested in a blog post that is currently live on 1% for the Planet’s website!
Sustainable Material Operations Intern
Drove innovative product solutions for Under Armour's footwear division that decrease environmental impact and increase competitive advantage. Conducted a project to benchmark sustainability data for footwear across 12 competing companies, focusing on tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers. This project’s goal was to maximize the success of Under Armour's 2030 sustainability goals.
Zero Waste Fellow
I worked as a sustainability advocate at the university and facilitated strong collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including UC Berkeley’s Office of Sustainability and 66 student eco-leaders, to address campus sustainability challenges. As a coalition, I led us to set semesterly goals focused on climate change and reported progress to the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability. My largest project was co-leading and organizing Cooperative Reuse, a city-wide furniture recycling program that diverted 200,000 lbs of waste and recycled over 800 mattresses, demonstrating our organization’s strong commitment to community impact and waste reduction.
Green Infrastructure Intern
Throughout this role I advanced green affordable housing practices across the U.S. by playing a key role in the development and public rollout of the 2020 Enterprise Green Communities Criteria for 40 projects nationwide. By utilizing Salesforce, I conducted an evaluation across 400 communities and generated reports that inform local policies on how to enhance green building practices.
Environmental Research Intern
Acted as an environmental researcher with a focus on the plastic and petrochemical industries in St. James Parish, Louisiana. I created a comprehensive report, timeline and informational flier analyzing over 80 years of environmental violations and political influence from Nucor Steel. This project was in collaboration with Rise St. James as well as Sharon Lavigne, a leader in environmental advocacy and the 2021 Goldman Environmental Prize winner.
Sustainability Intern
Acted as a sustainability advocate with a strong focus in campus energy efficiency initiatives. Throughout the year, I initiated and developed a $50,000 grant proposal to implement LED lighting systems, targeting a 50% reduction in dorm energy consumption. This included leading a team to secure approval from UC Berkeley leadership for the project's construction. This was part of a larger overarching goal to promote energy conservation and environmental stewardship among residents through a commitment to fostering sustainable practices within campus communities.
