As a team leader I support incoming FGLI Harvard students in the transition to a highly selective private liberal arts college with a predominantly wealthy student body. I serve as a dedicated mentor to these incoming students from underrepresented backgrounds throughout the course of their entire college career through offering academic, financial, professional, and personal advice and resources for them to thrive.

As a social services manager, I meet with patients prior to the doctor to asses their needs beyond direct medical care to identify the social determinants of health that they face. Then, I provide them with a variety of resources in addition to scheduling them to meet with a social services specialist to address their needs.

Leading medical chart review, recruitment, consent, longitudinal tracking, survey analysis and interpretation for the Pre-Lupus and Immune Signature BWH Lupus Center clinical research study. I have also produced a novel research study proposal for a medical records review of SLE patients. My study aims to analyze discrepancies in Lupus treatment among people of different race/ethnicity, age, gender, and insurance type. I'm going to write a senior honors thesis based on this research.

As a volunteer staff lead, I had the opportunity to work directly with the directors and paid staff leads to coordinate a series of workshops, panels, and networking sessions for over 200 high school students. Instead of being a mentor for one student group, I was tasked with overseeing four groups of students and their mentors.

Led a group of six high-achieving Latina high school seniors through the weeklong Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) by moderating daily lectures, panels, and reflections. I also assist my mentees by editing resumes, personal statements, and scholarship essays as well as answering questions on highly selective college admissions. Overall YLI works to provide insight on the college application process through workshops and networking sessions. Beyond YLI, I provide weekly mentorship meetings with each student throughout their application process. All of my mentees are at college and over half of them attend Top 10 Universities.

During my sophomore year, I have served as Director of Outreach. I lead extensive communication with student groups at universities across the United States and recruiting talented students to attend the Latina Empowerment and Development Conference. I managed a team of five to recruit 33 ambassadors at over twenty-five universities across the United States. We recruited a record-level 400+ attendees in 2021 and have been awarding $1,000+ in scholarships annually.

I worked as Associate Director of Outreach starting my first semester at Harvard College. I upheld communication with student groups at universities across the United States and recruiting talented students to attend the Latina Empowerment and Development Conference. We flew and housed over 200 students for a long weekend to Harvard's campus.

Research Assistant for two different projects. Under political science Professor Krister Andersson in conjunction with the University of Chicago's Professor Alan Zarychta, I am assisting with research on the effects of decentralized governance on corruption levels and the overall performance of local health systems in Honduras.The Colorado Fertility Project with Professor Jane Menken in Sociology is working to find a correlation between increased access to contraceptions and increased high school graduation and college enrollment rates for teenage girls in Colorado. This research will be used to influence policy as it relates to contraception access and female reproductive health.

Consulting within the Public Health SectorAnalyzed large global health datasets to synthesize information and provide health guidance for vaccine uptake.

After one semester with the CDC, I was invited to return and promoted as a Health Scientist intern. Under this role I lead and conduct scientific studies/surveys/investigations. This involves implementing aspects of scientific surveys/studies or projects to assist with identifying and solving public health problems. I work to search, synthesize, and interpret information relevant to public health. This eventually leads to assisting with the preparation of scientific and other articles and technical reports for publication.I also participates in the review and analysis of studies and projects to contribute to the formation recommendations for processes, procedures and /or policies related to public health programs, practices and research within the CDC. My duty overall is to support collaborative efforts through interactions with programs/projects/studies and coordinate efforts, as appropriate, with other program staff, other CDC, Centers, Institutes and offices, other federal agencies, national, State and local health agencies, private and non-profit organizations. Finally, I also provide technical advice and assistance to national, state and local health agencies and to various other organizations as well as communicating information to various audiences.

My role under the National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities included implementing and evaluating trainings and educational events with the CDC’s Chief Disability Officer to promote disability inclusion and diversity awareness within and outside the CDC. I also assisted in creating and distributing health education resources, tools, and communications materials to share with various CDC audiences.

I serve as the SNMA Liaison and work to coordinate the SNMA Undergraduate Mentorship Program with HMS in order to foster a community between MAPS students and current medical students with a focus on emphasizing the importance of increased representation and diversity in medicine. My role also involves collaborating with student organizations, academic programs, physician volunteers, and nonprofits to host events, panels, and workshops. Specifically, I am interested in amplifying the SNMA mission of supporting and encouraging pre-medical students to assist traditionally disenfranchised communities and having a socially conscious approach to service.

I serve on the Senior Leadership team of the inaugural board of the first ever Harvard-based World Pre-Health Conference. My role as the Co-Director of Diversity is to ensure there is a public health perspective integrated into the conference. I am passionate about working towards reducing health disparities and encouraging all pre-health students going into the field to have a strong background in sociology and public health in addition to actively working towards equal racial and gender representation among medical professionals. I have led a committee of Harvard students to organize a major Global Health Policy Competition for this conference involving hundreds of students. We are also hosting a Healthcare Highlights campaign on social media that highlight a variety of different healthcare systems across the world.
