This Sustainable Design MA was directed towards the goal of creating a more sustainable and equitable society. We explored innovative and practical ways to help realise those visions, emphasising design, creativity, empathy, innovation and activism.For my Final Major Project on this MA I took a deep dive into our current fashion system. I analyzed consumer behavior and interest in another system, researched and considered the possibility of more local clothing systems and soil-to-soil clothing systems, the farming and processing of clothing materials, the current materials in use and their impact on humans and the environment, human relationship to clothing and nature, current methods of analyzing sustainability in clothing brands, and much more involving clothing, the environment, and humans. The final output of my research is a zine and social media platform, titled "Dread to Dreams". Dread to Dreams is an independent zine publication and social media platform that aims to present not only the issues we currently face in our fashion system—the dreads— but also the visions—the dreams—for how this system and way of wearing clothes could be better. It covers topics from farming of our clothing materials to our consumption behavior.
