About Emily Shanklin

Hi, I'm Emily Shanklin! I was a competitive gymnast for many years traveling all over the place and I was also on a competitive swim team for several summers. I grew up teaching swim lessons with my mom, babysitting here and there and being an active member of my churches youth group. While attending Pinckneyville Community High School I was a competitive cheerleader, a member of several organizations and took dual credit classes through Rend Lake College over multiple summers and senior year. I then finished my associates degrees at Rend Lake and transferred to The University of Tennessee at Martin. My time at UTM included being a work study in the University Relations Department where I was able to work with their marketing team, on occasion I was in-charge of running the social media accounts for events, aided in photoshoots and promotional videos along with helping any way I could in the office. I was also the President of the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, a member of Transfers for Life and The National Honor Society of Leadership and Success. While being a full time student I have been an assistant manager to a local tanning salon with the responsibilities of running the front desk and sales floor, posting on all social media accounts, creating and maintaining the website and advertising and assisting with hosting of events. I was also the Advertising Representative for the local newspaper, I sold print advertisements, social post, special section ads and special book ads. This included all walk-ins, cold calling business owners, going to businesses, gathering leads of events and selling them spaces and all reoccurring ads. I also started my own custom wood working business during this time, I began by making smaller craft items that I was selling but before I knew it I was doing custom furniture such as dining room sets, benches, cabinets and just about anything else. After graduation I started as a hiring manager for American Marketing & Publishing and received my first promotion after 6 months. Our mission is to make marketing simple for America's independent business owners. We are currently hiring in several states so feel free to send me a message!
