Associate in the Energy & Resources/Planning & Environment/Native Title and Cultural Heritage team among a first class team of experienced lawyers. I worked on planning appeals, indigenous cultural heritage and land law, along with a welcomed mix of advocacy at Mental Health Tribunal hearings and collaborative work with Youthlaw.

I rotated through the Intellectual Property team gaining experience in patent litigation, trade mark registrations/oppositions and proceedings relating to copyright infringement. I was also involved in data protection/privacy law and food law. I developed my expertise in Global Loans, where I learned about the loan market, drafted commercial contracts and greatly expanded my insight into commercial finance.

On secondment from Ashurst, I assisted in providing legal representation, casework, information and education to people under 25 years of age. I ran a legal clinic out of Melbourne City Mission's Frontyard drop-in centre and refuge for homeless youth. I predominantly practiced in criminal law, infringements and credit/debt areas.

Supporting Family Law Barrister now Federal Circuit Court Judge Patrick O'Shannessy administratively and in a research capacity exposed me to the intricacies of court procedures, fine-tuned my research skills and provided me with consistent first-hand experience of working in the law. I was responsible for Patrick's brief handling, fees, subscriptions, technology updates/difficulties, legal research, document drafting and general administration.

Working within the Dispute Resolution Unit, I assessed complaint submissions to determine whether or not the Commission has jurisdiction to resolve the dispute under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Volunteering for the Family Law Assistance Program, my role involved appearing at the Dandenong Family Court, identifying legal issues of walk-in clients, liaising with the instructing solicitor and relaying legal advice accordingly.

I worked within the Commercial Law department and conducted research on Land Tax and exemptions, assisted in the execution of Transfer of Land Titles as well as lease renewals with impending property valuations to negotiate increased rent. In the down time, I assisted the administrative staff with file management.
