It’s important to me to blend my passion for nursing and people into the community by creating impactful change. I care about making individual experiences, processes, and our community better. This started in nursing school where I saw the connection between community and health.I am passionate about connecting communities and people through meaningful engagements. With the Canadian Institute for the blind, I saw firsthand the impact wrap-around services add value to the community by giving people the tools to make things better whether it is their health, career, or relationships. I volunteered with children's summer camps and individual buddy programs to support people who might be isolated. I saw the direct value of helping connect individuals with services and building a sense of community. I have 3+ years of experience in acute care and public health. I have been promoted to Assistant Charge nurse at the flu clinic which entails managing staffing, inventory, and processes in a high-volume busy environment. Plus I orient and train new staff because it supports my peers in becoming successful in their roles.This leadership experience led me to pursue a business master's program to build my strategic thinking to improve processes and systems. I continue to build community as the elected VP of Student Life. My goal is to create inclusive ways to build a sense of belonging in a compressed, intense Master's program. I organize and execute student-orientated events, providing resources of support to my peers, and utilizing leadership skills.To make a change in the community, you also need to have a strategy and a budget all while keeping the client in mind. My goal is to round out my skills to potentially move into new roles within Healthcare or in an organization with a cause.
