I am an experienced writer, editor and digital media professional based in the Huntsville, Alabama, area. I currently work as a Speechwriter supporting U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, and I publish a weekly newsletter called Warranted where I discuss faith and philosophy. I was born and raised in Northwest Alabama and have always had a love for creative pursuits. I attended college and graduate school at the University of Alabama, receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, summa cum laude, in 2019, and Master of Arts in Journalism in 2022. Graduate school ignited my passion for social science research, and I am so grateful for the journalism and critical thinking skills that were instilled in me during my time in Tuscaloosa—I rely on those skills daily, not only in my work life, but in personal pursuits as well. While at Alabama I received a crash course in newspaper publishing through a Copy Desk internship at the Tuscaloosa News. I then began working as an editorial assistant for Alabama Alumni Magazine, which sharpened my editorial skills while allowing me to build my toolbox of graphic design, social media and writing skills. I moved to the Huntsville area in 2020 and then began working as a staff writer for the Redstone Rocket, Redstone Arsenal's weekly newspaper, in January 2021. In January 2022, I transitioned to work as a content producer at digital media startup Hville Blast, which launched about a month into my time there. Work for a startup is dynamic and challenging, and my daily tasks included everything from coordinating photo shoots with clients to creating TikToks + analyzing social media analytics to developing the editorial skills of our team's interns. Now, I support the U.S. Army by providing speeches, talking points, and other written products for the Commanding General of SMDC. I love to create work that I am proud of, and my side project, Warranted, allows me to plumb the depths of philosophy, faith, and creativity on a regular basis.
