I am the financial controller at Synergy Effect, managing the company’s accounts as well as thefinances for every event the company does.I’m a qualified bookkeeper and an astute businesswoman. I have loads ofhands-on experience, gained by running a number of wholesale and retail businesses with my husband. We currently own a catering company working with small corporate events, weddings, parties, anything– as the saying goes. So I understand all the details involved in event finances.Analytics are a passion of mine, which is why I developed a unique budgeting template for eventmanagement. At Synergy Effect we use this for every client event we run and it makes ours and ourclient’s lives much easier. The template ensures nothing is missed during the planning stage andeliminates the risk of surprises at the completion of an event.I believe strongly in daily monitoring, as it helps spot any emerging patterns that might affect thefinal budget. It also helps to keep control of our staff head hours, so we know we’re not wasting ourown resources or underselling services.Once an event is finished I produce the final report for our event managers to present to clients todemonstrate savings versus budgeted costs. This is a key part of our service as each event’s budget isa jigsaw puzzle that needs to be completed before plans can be put into action, then monitoredthroughout the event until completion.I love my role at Synergy Effect because it provides the flexibility to work from the office and home,so I can raise our three-year old daughter and help manage the family business too.
