Working alongside a troupe of artists, scientists, and people who live with Dementia and/or Parkinson's, we created two shows that explore the reality of living with these diseases and the science behind them. Our intention was to cultivate empathy, as well as explore the stigma surrounding these realities.

Nominated for "Outstanding Emerging Artist" for my work creating an interactive sound design for Blind; a play about the persecution of people with albinism in Tanzania – murdered for their body parts, which are believed to hold magical power. In this encounter between documentary theatre and mythical storytelling, Blind follows Hannah during her stay in Tanzania where she works as an international observer of human rights violations. The original concept of the sound design was to have absolutely no pre-recorded sound. Everything was to be created organically. Not one performance would sound the same.After much experimentation in rehearsal, using a variety of microphones and Ableton Live, we discovered that we could create dynamic soundscapes, evoking the wild planes of Tanzania. In order to program the show to run on a single "GO" button, I combined Q-Lab and Ableton Live, programming midi cues which would operate 7 microphones and effects.The actors' used their voices, props, and bodies to create atmosphere through the microphones, creating layered wildlife scapes, magic realism environments, instrumental manipulation, and ghostly vocals. I designed the MAI's sound system to allow the travel of sound throughout the room, creating an immersive experience for the audience. The result was powerful, subtle and effective.
