With over a decade of experience as an educator, I am passionate about creating engaging and inclusive learning opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds and needs. Currently, I am leading the development of a curriculum for middle and high school newcomer/SIFE learners (Students with Interrupted/Inconsistent Formal Education) in literacy and language learning for Bridges to Academic Success. I am also a K-5 Grade Band Coordinator at SubjectToClimate, where I write and review interdisciplinary curriculum for elementary students based on climate change topics.As a writer, I enjoy crafting stories and activities that spark curiosity and critical thinking in students. I have published nonfiction articles for children, as well as historical and promotional pieces for local news outlets. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching, Leadership and Cultural Competency from the University of Iowa, which has helped me better understand my own identity and learn about the diverse identities of the students in our world. My goal is to empower students to become confident and compassionate global citizens through education.
