Emily Beyer, MPH, is a public health professional and Health Literacy Specialist with 3 years of experience in health literacy, lifestyle promotion interventions (effectiveness research), and communicable and non-communicable diseases (laboratory testing) across the US and Europe. At MaineHelath, Emily focuses on enhancing patient education, with a focus in surgical education, using health literacy and plain language principles. She previously collaborated with Liva Healthcare to evaluate the associations between types of goals set and weight lost in an eHealth intervention in Denmark. Emily also served as the Vice Chair for Lund University Master’s of Public Health Student Union (2021) and spent 3 years in 3 different leadership positions in the University of Kentucky Dance Ensemble prior to that. In late 2020, she was a member of Universitas 21’s Global Citizenship month-long course collaborating and reflecting on ideas to advance UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 and the characteristics needed to be a global leader with more than 500 students across the world. Her experience analyzing data with both R and Excel enables comprehensive analytics and quality improvement work. Passionate about improving health outcomes worldwide and in Maine, Emily merges her skills in public health, health literacy, and leadership to drive impactful change.
