What are social justice issues that we really care about in my school and community? How do artists and activists in community use art to make a difference? And, can we use contemporary methods of contemporary activist artists to make a difference in our school and community? Exposes the first year student in an interactive lecture/discussion format to contemporary issues and disciplines in the visual arts. Course requirements include attendance of course lectures, field trips, visiting artist presentations, keeping of a journal and the writing of a paper.
