Emily Peterson Alva is an experienced corporate board member and an accomplished finance and strategy executive. A long time Lazard Partner and M&A investment banker, Ms. Alva currently serves on the board of directors of directors of Alkermes plc (Nasdaq: ALKS), Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE: AMRX), Robotic Research and the Mission Society of New York City. As an independent corporate director, Ms. Alva brings unique expertise navigating complex strategic, financial, transactional and governance matters with boards and management teams. Ms. Alva is an advisor to founders, CEOs, leadership teams and boards of directors of global businesses and growing private businesses. She is also a private investor and frequent speaker on topics related to M&A and Corporate Finance, Audit, Corporate Governance, and ESG. Ms. Alva brings a unique breadth of sector knowledge and experience developed over decades of rigorous evaluation of businesses with differentiated industry expertise in healthcare, consumer, manufacturing and industrials, aerospace and defense/ government contractors, technology, and financial services. Ms. Alva’s professional experience includes almost twenty years as an Investment Banker at Lazard (NYSE: LAZ). Over many years as a visible and trusted Lazard banker and corporate board advisor, Emily built a distinctive track record leading complex strategic evaluations and M&A transactions for major global corporations representing, in aggregate, over $200 billion in transaction value. While at Lazard, Ms. Alva held leadership roles both with clients and internally and advised some of Lazard’s most important clients over many years. Notably, Ms. Alva was one of the youngest professionals promoted to the role of Partner at Lazard, and one of the first woman to be promoted to the level of Managing Director. Ms. Alva qualifies as an SEC Audit Committee Financial Expert. Before embarking on a Wall Street career, Ms. Alva worked in various operating roles at a technology company. In recent years, Ms. Alva was selected for the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Corporate Leaders Program. She has also been actively engaged with several innovative corporate governance initiatives focused on the meaningful and sustainable inclusion of accomplished business leaders from under-represented communities in corporate board rooms. Emily received a B.A. in Economics from Barnard College, Columbia University. Emily lives between Palm Beach and New York with her husband and five children.
