I taught a weekly lab section covering the fundamentals of the modern mechanical design process, including how to effectively use CAD (SolidWorks), conduct basic computer simulation and analysis, rapid prototype with laser cutting and 3D printing, and interpret and create engineering drawings. I led an instruction team of four engineers in mentoring and educating high school students in engineering design principles, prototyping, documentation, and public speaking. All 26 student selected their own engineering project to work on for six weeks, some of which included robotic arms, custom light displays, home automation systems, and a CNC machine. I communicated with each student prior to the program to select a project, create a Bill of Materials, and develop a project plan. I sourced and acquired all parts, maintained a master Bill of Materials, and tracked $10,000/month in expenses. I ensured projects remained on schedule by helping students to create daily and weekly goals and by aiding in troubleshooting.
