    Focusing on lysosomal dysregulation, I studied fluctuations in lysosomal pH correlated with a loss or gain of certain cellular functions connected to cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. Using induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSCs), I tested the effects of various compounds on lysosomal pH and measured cathepsin B and D activity. Our goal was to identify compounds that effectively keep pH low and hopefully propagate adverse characteristics of neurodegeneration.
