I am a member of the inaugural cohort of the Thurgood Marshall Research Fellowship program under the Institute for Public Leadership at the University of Maryland. Fellows conduct research on various topics associated with advancing racial equity in public leadership. I am investigating the real effects of people of color in public and private leadership, specifically the ways in which they foster institutional change and are simultaneously molded by institutional norms.

Working alongside Maryland Public School districts, I assist in the conducting of research on behalf on the University of Maryland to address the primary issues and challenges that the school districts are facing.

I wore many hats in my position as Program Officer. I conducted after-school civic engagement programs for low-income, immigrant youth in Prince George's County, MD as well as Washington D.C. I designed and conducted the program curriculum in both English and Spanish in order to support the many newly-arrived youth from Central and South America. In addition to running programs, I managed the organization's website and wrote grant proposals to both local government and private organizations.
