As owner of Huitzilli Inc., I'm an entrepreneur, importing fine handcraft from Mexico. Developing traditional garments for an urban clientele and distributing luxury Guayabera shirts has been my focus. In July 2015 we celebrated 8 years as a destination boutique for distinctive handmade jewelry, accessories, home decor and folk art in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.Photography has been a passion since my teens. After completing a degree in photography in Berlin, Germany, I worked as photographer's assistant in fashion. I recently reestablished myself in the field, shooting product, portraits, fashion and events. Please see some of my current work at emilycantrell.com.After completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Denver, I began my studio career in New York City. During the mid 90's I founded Matrix Art Project in Tribeca, co-curating and producing group shows of emerging international artists. My work was exhibited in two person shows at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and at the Centro de Desarollo de las Artes Visuals in Havana, Cuba and included in exhibitions at Exit Art in NYC and Pirate in Denver and other institutions in the USA, France and Mexico. In 2000, I received the prestigious NYFA fellowship for painting.Additionally I have more the 20 years experience in hospitality, fine dining, wine service and events. I've lived a total of 9 years outside the US, in Berlin and Mexico City, and I'm fluent in Spanish and German and can speak conversational French and basic Portuguese. I'm an avid social dancer and I volunteer with The Thorntree Project, a non-profit educational initiative for Samburu children in rural Kenya.
