In order for clinicians to effectively practice value-based care, patients need to be in insurance plans that compensate primary care providers for high quality care, so well-managed patients can avoid expensive hospitalizations and ER visits. This is where Calyx Advantage steps in.Calyx Advantage is our Medicare-only insurance brokerage that provides on-site health insurance consultations. We do this in partnership with large health systems and their primary care clinics to meet patients where they are. The Calyx Advantage team works one-on-one with seniors to guide them through the entire Medicare process—evaluating their healthcare needs, comparing plans and costs, enrolling in a plan, and supporting them over the long-term, all while saving them money and expanding their benefits.

With the support of two schools and the school-wide community in Oakland Unified School District, I work to promote food justice through hands-on education in the garden, class, and cafeteria. I organize taste tests, harvests, and health related events to connect the school-communities with resources to try and obtain fresh, healthy vegetables and fruits.

During the summer months I was a lead instructor for science and art curriculum for grades ranging from kindergarten to fifth. I worked with students to deliver hand-on lessons, adjusting the class and lesson to fit the class' needs. I filled in where needed, jumping from kindergarten to 3-4th grade in a single day sometimes, I also supported more technical courses with the middle school group -- from cooking to 3-D printing. Additionally, I worked with a dedicated team to provide a fun and unique camp experience for all campers.

Working to increase the reading levels of students in Oakland during the school day, I implemented literacy intervention plans for several student across two schools. I followed the curriculum and took detailed records of the students progress and areas to improve. I worked with the site supervisor to adjust the lessons, plan, and my own strategy for individual students after assessing their progress and my teaching style.

I took complete and concise notes during lectures, delivered them promptly, and maintained confidentiality of those who received the notes.
