Field methods included extensive electrofishing efforts of watersheds from Central California to Southern Oregon and deployment of acoustic telemetry systems in the Sacramento River. Laboratory efforts included thin sectioning, polishing and reading juvenile Chinook otoliths for age and natal stream data, respirometry experiments for temperature studies and JSATS tag implantation for telemetry studies.

Co-lead/lead field assessments to determine extent and magnitude of Sea Star Wasting Syndrome along the California Coastline at the outset of the outbreak as part of a two person team. Continued to monitor Sea Star and Abalone populations with the progression of the syndrome in established PISCO (Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans) monitoring sites with additional focus on sites falling within coastal National Parks. Collaborated closely with Park staff on monitoring efforts, often in remote/rugged conditions.
