After just graduating from college, I made the decision to relent my M.A.T. candidacy to instead move from "small town Georgia" to the West Coast and see what Southern California had in store. I sought change, challenge, and new perspective. Who knew I would also find MY FIRST RECRUITING JOB that would propel me into the career I love so much today.Living just under 2 miles from vivacious 2nd street in Long Beach (and with no vehicle at the time), I would walk to the main strip and apply to jobs - one right after another: Starbucks, Open Sesame, Panama Joe's... Simultaneously, I had my resume posted on (now the seemingly archaic) Monster.com website. It was here I was discovered by my first Recruiting boss: Craig Applehof. (THANK YOU for opening this door for me and giving me a chance!)He told me later that the appeal of my resume was the mention of TEAM WORK and overcoming CHALLENGES; the successes I had accomplished in my SOCCER career, that he felt would fend well for an entry-level recruitment position. The role - he described- sounded simple and FUN. Like matchmaking, essentially. (HA! Later to find recruitment is simple in concept, not so much in reality...that's another story for another time) But, to be honest - what really ignited my intrigue was that the job was within a bicycle commutable distance. Having no vehicle (as mentioned prior) made this role seem PERFECT! But, when I walked into the office doors that BRIGHT day in downtown Long Beach, the ocean view glittering outside the high-rise building windows, I felt this deep KNOWING that this was the right place for me. I KNEW I wanted this job and I KNEW it was for me. What I didn't know then, was the THRILLING career that awaited me.13 years later, I have had the opportunity to work in recruitment staffing, corporate hiring, and consultancy partnerships. I have learned how to work with the business, challenge when necessary, and offer AUTHENTIC leadership in what it takes to find, hire and retain the BEST talent. I've learned how to BUILD teams, DEVELOP talent acquisition strategies, roadmapping processes and optimizing resources; the necessity of company CULTURE, aligned VISION, EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE, BRANDING; but, also EMPATHY and CONNECTION.I have been REJECTED in this field and I have been RECOGNIZED. But I have NEVER not been GRATEFUL. I absolutely love my career in RECRUITING and would love for YOU to be a part of my journey
