This course focuses on the water budget, dissecting a different component each week in the context of a natural environment. I supervised an intern by collaborating with her to create a new lab component and provided feedback on her work. Served as the teaching assistant for hydrology and water policy courses and conducted forest hydrology research as a research assistant. I was the teaching assistant for two courses: Watershed Processes (upper undergraduate and graduate) and Sociotechnical Aspects of Water Resources (graduate). For the former I executed weekly labs including field-based labs focused on measuring streamflow and infiltration capacity, and indoor labs calculating evapotranspiration, discharge, and hydrograph separation. I also taught lectures focused on infiltration, precipitation, and groundwater and managed online discussion boards. For the later, I facilitated water policy and management discussions and managed two labs focused on calculating evapotranspiration and discharge.As a graduate research assistant, I assessed daily and 15-minute resolution hydrologic data from the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, a Long-Term Ecological Research site, in order to explore long-term trends in annual runoff coefficients across ten small watersheds in the Cascade Mountains. Using Python and GIS I explored climatological and physically drivers of changes in streamflow and to assess a watershed’s ability to buffer climatic changes. I presented results at the 2018 AGU Fall Meeting in Washington D.C. and the 2018 Joint Conference of Forests and Water in Valdivia, Chile.In addition to my main research project, I also deployed an ISCO sampler to collect daily water isotope samples for a one-year period and organized a schedule with several undergraduate research assistants to retrieve the samples every other week.

I collaborated with educators from the University of Wisconsin Extension to produce a paper analyzing data from a 2015 study on the effectiveness, status, and needs of environmental education centers in Wisconsin. Using the Adobe Creative Suite, I designed and produced education materials such as a dichotomous key for macroinvertebrate identification, wayside panels for inside and outside of the center, and an interactive “bug board” identification board. I created an informational, interpretive video about caddisfly research at the center.
