During the time I spent in this stream I developed skills in the areas of insolvency, drafting of claims and appearing in the Supreme Court, and commercial litigation generally. Since May 2013, I have worked in a team environment in the commercial, property and estate planning and administration streams. During this time I have had the opportunity to work with many of the senior members of the practice in larger transactions as well as having my own files and servicing clients. I have primarily developed my skills in the drafting of leases, sale and purchase of business transactions and estate planning and administration. The business transactions I have assisted clients with in the commercial stream have encouraged my interest in the Personal Property Securities Register and since joining the stream I have spent a considerable amount of time searching the register and registering security interests for clients. I find this area particularly interesting given that it is so new and, now that the transitional period is over, many businesses and individuals are starting to appreciate the need to educate themselves and their companies in order to protect their interests.
