Worked with writers to make reports clearer and to make analysis more compelling. Recruited, hired, and mentored a subordinate copy editor/proofreader. Overhauled company style, creating and maintaining a new in-house style guide.

Copy edited and developmentally (content) edited in-depth, subscription-based reports for this independent enterprise IT research and analysis company using Microsoft Word and the company's CMA/CMS. Met strict daily deadlines for editing reports of various lengths delivered to subscribers by newsletter, e-mail and hard copy. Topics included storage systems, networking, mobile technology and finance. Worked on a team of five editors and attained proficiency with innovative IT subjects.

Edited and prepared online news content for various enterprise IT publications using Vignette CMA/CMS. Full-time shifts also included proofreading and editing for eWEEK's weekly print magazine version, Weblogs and newsletters. After one year, was promoted to senior position. Responsible for the workflow and scheduling of the West Coast copy desk, which included two other full-time copy editors. Responsible for maintaining and updating the online style guide.

Full-time shifts at this midsize daily newspaper included work on rim, pagination and on the rim-composer desk. Responsible for proofing and output of pages in QuarkXPress.

Responsibilities included layout and design of page A1 and the State section using DTI (PageSpeed), and pagination using QuarkXPress. Also responsible for twice-weekly shifts as wire editor, choosing wire copy and art and compiling budget for presentation in meeting. Served on a committee to rewrite the in-house style guide.

Dow Jones Newspaper Fund intern. Full-time copy editor after training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Paginated using QuarkXPress. Composed a teaching guide for future interns.
