I am an enthusiastic Primary School Educator and I am currently completing my Masters of Education (STEM and Digital Technologies). My passion for teaching and working with children comes from a desire to nurture and help students to become empowered, literate, engaged and creative people who reach their full potential. I feel that one of the best moments in teaching is when you can see a student grasp a concept for the first time and knowing that you provided the student the opportunity to attain that goal. I have a passion for learning and a desire to assist my students in becoming lifelong learners.I have a special interest and demonstrated involvement in ICT. Within my previous position at Our Lady of Mercy I was working alongside staff to upskill them in all areas of digital technology. Throughout the year I have been running sessions before school to expose teachers to various elements of technology, teaching tools and ways that they can incorporate it further into their classrooms. It is also a part of my role to demonstrate various teaching strategies and ways to teach the curriculum to students, especially the more complex technology skills. I worked to create various “I Can” statements and checklists that assist staff with their planning and understanding of the curriculum, as well as assisting the students with recognising what is expected of them, within technology. I also had the opportunity to work within the classroom with teachers to demonstrate and assist with the integration of technology into various aspects of their teaching and the curriculum.I believe that my greatest strengths are that I am caring, kind and show great initiative. Throughout my year at Our Lady of Mercy I have shown leadership within a variety of areas including the establishment of both the Genius Hour Project and Sustainability focus within the school. I aim to support children to become independent learners, enabling them to take control of their lives and contribute meaningfully to society. My planning and organisation skills are highly developed and in addition, I have positive interpersonal skills, I enjoy working collaboratively in a team environment and actively pursue and take on leadership roles.
