As the Director of Finance, I serve as the sole financial resource at our hospital. I manage the hospital's operating budget, capital spending, productivity, and staff education surrounding finance topics. I also coordinate with leadership at our mountain clinic and physician clinic locations in the county to achieve operational, strategic, and budgetary targets. I serve as a member of the hospital's executive team working towards strategic and operational goals for our market and present pertinent information to our Board of Directors on a bi-monthly and ad hoc basis. I also serve as the Admin/Finance Lead in our Incident Command Structure when activated.

Responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating all financial activities of Memorial Behavioral Health, a Memorial Health System affiliate, including management of a $14 million operating budget. I worked closely with clinical leadership at various levels to ensure the on-going financial viability of the organization's various programs during a time of rapid change in the health care sector on both the state and federal levels.

I was responsible for developing and implementing the agency-wide, risk-based internal audit plans. I planned, performed, and carried out all aspects of the audits included in the approved plans and communicated the results to the Agency Director, Audit Committee, and senior leadership. I also served as a liaison between external auditors and agency personnel during various external audits and worked closely with internal personnel to evaluate and improve upon internal controls reducing risks of fraud, waste, and abuse. I performed annual quality assurance reviews, consulting engagements, program reviews, and other special projects as assigned.

I was responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly and annual financial statements and fund reconciliations for various State of Illinois funds. I also prepared quarterly reports, supervised and coached staff, and wrote and reviewed procedures to improve controls and remedy audit findings. At year end, I was responsible for preparing and reviewing fund and Agency-wide consolidated financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles ensuring all relevant deadlines were met. I served as a liaison between the Shared Services Center, other State agencies, internal auditors, and external auditors to ensure all information requests were resolved timely and appropriate information is provided.
