After 18 years of continuous schooling, I have finally settled into my first full-time job as a paralegal assistant at the Joel Bieber Firm. I'm using my time here to gain real world experience and knowledge of the legal field while I save for law school and study for the LSAT.I graduated from Radford University in May 2023 with a Criminal Justice BS degree. I transferred here from Brightpoint (John Tyler, at the time) Community College after completing my General Studies AS degree in May 2021. It was there at Radford that I first discovered my passion for law. In the past, I'd always known criminal justice was for me, but I'd sworn off the entire legal field long ago. When I joined mock trial my first semester, I found myself loving putting together a case to argue. My Coach noticed how quickly I was picking up the lessons and the potential I had, appointing me one of 2 captains for the university's very first competitive mock trial team. I remained in this position for the entirety of my time at Radford, and still offer my support and assistance as much as I can as an out of town alumni. While on the team, I led my peers in a number of tournaments, invitationals, and official AMTA competitions in which we managed to bring home several awards and achievements despite our brand new status. I myself took home an individual "Best Witness" award for my performance as plaintiff witness and party representative Ari Felder (for those of you familiar with AMTA). Portraying witnesses was not my only role; while playing a character can be incredibly fun, it was playing myself as a defense closing attorney that really became my thrill.Now, my goal is to attend law school so I can stop acting and start living it. Knowing I want to be an attorney was the first piece of the puzzle. Next will be figuring out what field of law. I've had a touch of criminal law and civil law through mock trial, and the Joel Bieber Firm is introducing me to personal injury law. I intend to explore the varieties of law over the next few years before settling on one when I enter the professional world as an attorney.
