As an Engineer at Arup, I work across sustainability, waste and transport projects for clients both locally and in the Pacific, expanding my experience in infrastructure sustainability, sustainable materials, greenhouse gas emissions modelling and built environment policy. The circular economy is a key focus for me across this work which covers both design and advisory services.

Projects in Canberra have involved leading sustainability for the CIT Campus Woden design, renewable-powered chilling for the dairy industry in Sri Lanka, applying the circular economy to the solar pv and lithium-ion battery industries, developing strategic roadmaps for emergency management in the Pacific, and several advisory pieces to ACT Government on topics like circular economy and zero emissions precincts.

Arup is an engineering consultancy firm dedicated to shaping a better world through projects based in the built environment. As a vacation student, I supported Consultants and Engineers to complete their projects.

ANU Fifty50 is a student organisation who's vision is to have an equitable STEM pipeline from university to industry and academia, inclusive of all students regardless of gender. I completed the high level design of an online sexual education resource for El Salvadorian students based on identification of key cultural, technological and legal requirements. This resource will be incorporated into the education programs run by Schools for the Future, an NGO based in Sweden and El Salvador.

I worked with the newly formed Engineering Practice Academy at Swinburne University, where I developed a student-industry mentoring program for the Academy community called Mentoring Squads. I did so utilising current research, my experience with mentoring programs, and my knowledge of diversity and inclusion, and look forward to seeing the Program and the Academy develop throughout 2018 and beyond.

The Intelledox Digital Transformation Centre (IDTC) focuses on process improvement within the ANU, and accomplishes this using Infiniti - the flagship software from digitalization software company Intelledox. At the IDTC, I co-facilitated rapid improvement events using the lean methodology, developed functional specifications, and co-designed improved business processes. Projects were managed utilising Agile.

I completed an individual research project in biomedical optics under the guidance of academics and researchers at the Tearney Lab. Through structured experiments, and the design of a phantom tool, my project informed the design of a new medical device to carry out the non-invasive diagnosis of celiac disease.

I worked at Data61, an ICT division of CSIRO on a project looking at real-time 3D urban visualisation tools and how they can be used to engage stakeholders in urban developments. I used drone footage along with mapping, animation and 3D software to provide CSIRO with recommendations on how to use existing tools to build these new ones. I was awarded "Best Presentation" at the state presentation day and was offered the opportunity to extend my role at the CSIRO as an Industrial Trainee.
