Some of my favorite moments from my career experiences include:• Working with a minimally speaking student for 2 years, who called me "Mama" on his last day of school. • Walking with a student in Ukraine who taught me how to count, and seeing his joy when I finally mastered counting to 10. • Finishing a science lesson for my 7th graders in the rural village of Makumba, Zambia, and given them their assignment. I told the class that I would go teach 6th grade while they worked, and one of my students said "thank you Miss, thank you so much." My students were so grateful that I had stepped in to teach their class when the regular teacher chose not to come to school that day even though they had a large exam coming up.
