I did my residency in the Emergency Department, seeing a combined ED census of 130,000+. In addition to emergency medicine, I have rotated in the Adult, Pediatric, and Burn Intensive Care Units, Trauma, Anesthesia, EMS, Obstetric and Gynecology, Cardiology, Urology and Orthopedics. My residency research involves the comparison of plain radiograph interpretations between Emergency Medicine Physicians and Radiologists.

I worked for the Department of Anatomy during the summer after my first year of medical school and throughout my second year of medical school. I worked with a graduate student on her thesis project, "A Preliminary Study of the Effects of Liposuction Technique on Adipose-Derived Stem Cell Viability." I arranged and drove to pick up the adipose tissue from the plastic surgeon each week. I would then extract the cells from the adipose tissue, and plate, feed, and clean the cells. Once the cells were growing, I stained and counted them to determine the number of stem cells.

I was a tutor for Biology 10101: Genetics, Evolution, and Society, the same class for which I was a teaching assistant the previous semester. Each week, I helped freshmen students who were having difficulties with the concepts in class.

As part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program, I worked in the department of Psychiatry. I saw patients, recorded data, and analyzed the results in a double blind clinical study for smoking cessation medication and contingency management in 12 to 21 year olds. The internship culminated in a paper and presentation.

As part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, I designed and implemented an experiment in a Physiology Lab, which studied the effects of salt loads on the blood pressures and heart rates of transgenic mice. These metabolic studies required a special cage, which I designed to improve the experiment.
