Research Fisheries Biologist
CurrentConduct and support the Alaska Bottom Trawl Surveys as a biologist, Deck Lead, or Field Party Chief; and apply knowledge of survey design and sampling principles to conduct research trawls, collect accurate data, and validate data with computer assisted applications.Conduct independent and team research supporting the development of new and improved mathematical and statistical models for estimating abundance of groundfish in Alaska.Evaluate the relationship between the physical, chemical, and biological interactions of marine ecosystems and the living marine resources.Prepare written results detailing the data, methods, and outcomes of the research; contribute to and write specialized reports, peer-reviewed papers and publications; and present oral and poster presentations.
