Ot Fieldwork Ii Student
My second level II fieldwork was in an outpatient adult mental health setting, treating individuals with chronic mental health conditions and often concurrent physical conditions. I worked collaboratively with individuals to develop client-centered goals and individualized intervention plans to enhance participation in meaningful occupations. I also utilized creative approaches and purposeful activity to facilitate development of routines and independent living skills, coping skills, social skills and self-management of physical and mental health.
Ot Fieldwork Ii Student
My first level II fieldwork was in an outpatient rehabilitation setting treating individuals with neurodegenerative conditions and neurologic impairments. I used a holistic approach to address client concerns and priorities to develop interventions to regain skills and modify factors to achieve success and increased independence in daily living. I gained valuable experience working with stroke and low vision populations and developed proficiency with numerous standardized assessments for vision and cognition.
Personal Care Attendant
I provided in-home care to an adolescent with cerebral palsy, including medication management, bowel and bladder management, sensory interventions and therapeutic exercises. This position also provided me with experience in working with various types of adaptive equipment and assistive technology including environmental controls & positioning devices.
Clinical Research Assistant
I worked as a research assistant in a pediatric emergency room that conducted several research studies at a time. One of the largest studies was concerned with at looking at the way patients with head trauma, their families, and their emergency care providers discussed treatment options, particularly those with a borderline risk for a serious head injury. My job was to approach these patients and their families, explain the nature of the research project, and have extensive knowledge about the project in order to address any questions regarding the study. The study included questionnaires and a video recording of the discussion with their provider, and I was responsible for collecting additional information from the patient's medical chart and compiling all of the necessary data.
Art Instructor
I taught after school and summer art classes that were designed to introduce new artistic concepts to elementary aged children. I loved encouraging my students to do their best and seeing the unique ways in which they expressed themselves. We worked with many different art mediums, such as clay and paint, and my favorite class to teach was a series that introduced children to famous artists like Monet, Matisse, and Van Gogh.
Server
I worked as a server in a small, family owned Algerian restaurant.
Nanny
I cared for two wonderful and very active boys. I started nannying for this family when the eldest was two years old and before the second child was born. Much of our time together was spent engaging in imaginative play, reading together, enjoying the outdoors, and playing all kinds of different sports.
