Grizedale College Assistant Dean (Lancaster University)Lancaster University Sep 2020 - Aug 2021Lancaster, England, United KingdomPart-time, paid role undertaken alongside my masters degree. Predominant duties involved meeting with students during disciplinary hearings for issues such as noise complaints, anti-social behaviour, COVID-19 breaches, and disputes within residences. Once meetings were undertaken, formal transcripts were written up, shared with the students involved to ensure accurate records, and findings were then passed onto the Dean of Grizedale College. The Dean would then decide on disciplinary action which we would share with the student/s, or would request to hold a further meeting with the student/s, where again a formal transcript would be created and then disciplinary action decided upon. Due to the often sensitive nature of the role, we worked closely with the college's advisory team and welfare officers to ensure students were offered support and signposted to the relevant services, such as the central university's mental health service, where applicable. As an Assistant Dean, I was also a part of the Senior Common Room (SCR) within Grizedale College, and supported at events such free food and drinks events during the COVID-19 lockdowns, awards evenings, and end-of-term celebratory events such as the college 'Extrav'. -
