With over 14 years of international nonprofit experience, I am a grassroots nonprofit founder and director specializing in program development, ethical governance, financial management, strategic planning, innovative problem solving, and team leadership. As Founder & Executive Director of Casita Copan, a nonprofit that I established in the United States and Honduras, I leveraged my skills in fundraising, nonprofit management, finance, and strategic planning to build a successful, community-centered organization dedicated to preventing child abandonment and strengthening families in Honduras. Under my leadership, the organization grew 500% over 10 years, while continuing to respond with flexibility and empathy to the changing needs of our program participants and community. From 2012 until 2023, I built and led all aspects of organizational operations, including program development, financial management, community engagement, fundraising, marketing, and legal compliance. I successfully secured initial funding and developed a sustainable ongoing funding through various channels, including individual and monthly giving, grants, events, and a capital campaign raising $180,000 from individual donors to purchase a property. I cultivated strategic partnerships with businesses, donors, government agencies, and community organizations, and assembled and led a dedicated team of 20+ staff members, with a strong emphasis on recruiting and developing local talent. Through engaging storytelling, brand cultivation, and relationship building, I built a strong organizational identity for Casita Copan that has positioned it as a key organization in the community. Currently, I am leading a transition plan to promote the local leaders that I have been mentoring over the last few years. I am working closely with our new Executive Director and the Boards of Directors in Honduras and the United States to ensure an ethical and responsible transition that will promote organizational stability. I am incredibly motivated by the opportunity to uplift potential leaders, while managing relationships with key stakeholders, such as foundations, corporations, community leaders, and individual donors to help the transition move as smoothly as possible. In my free time, I like to paint portraits and write poetry and essays that try to capture some of the incredible experiences I’ve had living in Central America for 12 years.
