Botanical Curatorial Assistant
CurrentAs Botanical Curatorial Assistant, my primary responsibilities include:- Seed and spore collection for research and propagation- Cleaning seeds for direct sowing and packaging seeds to be stored for later use- Inventorying extensive plant collections - Data collection and database management- Demonstrating and guiding volunteers through proper seed collection, cleaning, packaging and storing techniques, as well as working with them on various other garden maintenance activities.- Coordinating with the propagation and nursery departments to ensure we have the necessary seed and spore in stock for future nursery needs- Coordinating with the plant records specialist to ensure proper labeling of all plants in collection- General garden maintenance work as needed - such as planting, pruning, mulching, building beds, identifying potential pests or disease, weeding, etc.
