As a group my team worked with the MLK Jr. Center of Spokane advising them through facility changes. The MLK centers current facility was too small to accommodate all their programs and after school activates for the needful children of Spokane. With the guidance of our Public Relations professor we each prepared a final project that communicated to the public funders and donors about facility changes where there would be an Open House to keep all publics informed of MLK’s changes. For three quarters in Journalism 451, 452, & 453 we worked together to improve our Public Relations skills. My Professor was a true mentor throughout the year and showed us what to expect in the real working world. The Martin Luther King Jr Family Outreach Center needed to raise money in a certain time frame in order to better serve the community by expanding its facilities and providing additional programs.To begin helping The Martin Luther King Jr family outreach center we Analyzed the situation beginning with basic planning questions. ● What is the situation facing the organization? ● What is the background of the situation? ● What is the significance or importance of the situation?We collected information from the director of the center:● Background on the issue (what is the cause of this situation?)● Consequences of the Situation (Who or what is affected by this situation?)● Resolution of the Situation (How strong is the organizations commitment to resolve this situation?) We analyzed the Organization & the Publics:What communication resources, including budget, are available.How supportive the organization is of Public Relations activity.Reputation of the company.Who their primary customers are.Who the opinion leaders are amongst their customers. What the nature and type of each key public is. The personal communication channel this public uses. It was great to work with a legitimate organization to help the outreach center organize & meet their goals.

Filing, taking inventory, keeping records and sorting checks. As the office assistant in Virginia, I prepared new security client contracts to be sealed and shipped to corporate every week. These contracts are very important to the company and to the salesman who worked hard to close these accounts. I spent time organizing the Honeywell equipment that would be installed in our clients homes by the technicians. Every part of the system at AMP plays an important role in the overall success of the company and I did a stellar job at my part.

I Sold Honeywell home security monitoring systems door to door with a five year contractual agreement. Knocking doors fifty hours a week in an unfamiliar cultural setting showed me how hard work will produce results and how incredibly important it is to maintain positivity and not get discouraged. The unique sales and work ethic skills that I have acquired at AMP have played a significant role in almost every area of my professional life.
