I teach in the Education department in the field of Community Education: Capstone Seminar in Community Education and the Directed Field Experience in Community Education. Classes center on internships in the field of community education and the social justice missions they execute.

Within the Salem Public Schools I have the opportunity to work with school staff, students and community partners to identify and dismantle systems of inequity. I have been able to co-develop and lead our district's inaugural district wide equity review process, to assess educational equity across all eleven schools including 40 reviewers including staff, partners, and young people. I have also been lucky enough to create and lead the district wide Equity Matters Team using Theater of the Oppressed to build the capacity to disrupt injustice. I project manage initiatives and partnerships such “Salem Together” the City of Salem’s COVID-19 response and develop and maintain relationships with over 60 community partners to provide access to high quality, innovative programming as well as wrap around services and resources to vulnerable families. I also get to work alongside fabulous colleagues to design and run professional development for a variety of school and community stakeholders on topics including equity, racial justice, arts integration, family and community engagement.

At Young Audiences I developed and implemented a strategic plan to increase urban school access to the arts and managed all artists in residence. I also taught professional development courses for educators on integrating creative processes into core content.

I taught undergraduates public speaking and the the performance of poetry and prose. I was also able to manage a performance series for students and develop theater programming for high school students involved with the criminal justice system.
