I updated the maintenance safe job procedures to ensure that the employees would continue to work in a safe environment. This allowed me to work with salary and hourly employees to ensure that they were accurate while improving them. I also worked on verifying the lockout placards at the plant. There are new standards that are being put in place and I worked closely with the champion to implement these new changes. They will help to ensure that our placards are compliant and help keep our workplace safer.

I work on an on call weekend basis. I supervise 20+ UAW employees when called into work. I am expected to work in different areas while learning the machines, processes, labor rules and regulations on the fly. I average three weekends a month. This was a wonderful opportunity for me during school. I got to learn more aspects of the plant while keeping my knowledge sharp.

I created systems to successfully time track future refurbishments for die management in the tool room. I analyzed downtime data and utilized company processes to drive for productivity improvements.I built professional work relationships with my team members.I created a visual standards boards to ensure quality in the dies and to promote better success with the rework in the future.I learned various amounts of information regarding the die tooling for all of the different areas of the plant.I updated prints with the correct water fountain numbers and proper labeling to ensure the quality standards are met and to help the process to become quicker to ensure their is no loss time for production. I spent time learning AutoCAD / Layout programs.

I am currently a Business Calculus Tutor. I tutor and assist undergraduate students in groups as well as individually. I get to connect with a lot of my fellow classmates, and other people who I would never cross paths with if it wasn't for this job, which is my favorite part of this job. I was referred by my professor, and selected among over 40 applicants for this position. I love that I get to help people learn in a subject I enjoyed so much.

I was the supervisor over 20+ UAW employees. I started and completed projects that resulted in cost savings. I put systems in place to utilize my manpower and to ensure the area was clean and safe everyday. I followed the containment process when necessary. I preformed quality checks to ensure that the machines were running correctly and quality issues were found before moving on. I led my team and ensured they were working safely and productivly everyday. I was in charge of running two areas on the weekends. I preformed disciplinary interviews to fix problems and to prevent them in the future with team members.

I was a supervisor over one hourly UAW employee. This was awesome because I got to get my feet wet in supervising. They started me off with just one person which was nice for my first time supervising. I feel that I would be more comfortable to supervise multiple people now. I managed and maintained the loading and unloading dock for my area. I had direct contact with the drivers, informing them of the safety rules, and singing their paperwork on arrival. I also assisted and ran conference calls with headquarters everyday. I learned a lot of aspects of not only the business in this position but also the engineering. Everyday was a learning experience and that was my favorite part of this internship!
