Served as a tutor for Nervous Systems I, a challenging neuroscience course offered at Johns Hopkins. This position has helped me to develop the skills necessary to explain difficult concepts in a variety of ways and serve as a mentor for students in the Neuroscience Department.

Collaborated with Alison E. Pritchard, PhD, Program Director, Neuropsychology Research Lab, and Rebecca Vaurio, PhD, Dept. of Neuropsychology, Outpatient Assessment Programs, on several studies focusing on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), ADHD, Intellectual Disability, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. My work challenged me to apply my neuroscience background in clinical settings. I took leadership roles within several studies, the largest of which involved identifying DNA methylation patterns in children with FASD. The data I collected and analyzed will continue to be studied to determine if the methylation patterns can be reversed thereby improving patients’ cognitive function. By spearheading patient enrollment, collecting/cataloguing saliva samples, scoring neuropsychological tests, and participating in weekly rounds and journal review meetings I established and honed a strong research skillset:- Developing testable hypotheses- Designing studies using experimental and non-experimental research methods- Critically analyzing existing literature- Applying description and inferential statistical procedures- Data management- Writing scientific research reports- Demonstrating laboratory skills relevant to behavioral neuropsychologic research- Meeting strict deadlines- Collaborating with a team

Camp Kesem is a college student run summer camp for children with a parent battling cancer. It is a one-week sleep away camp that provides children with the extra attention and support that they need.

Charm City Clinic is a nonprofit free clinic dedicated to helping East Baltimore residents access and maintain high quality long-term health care and social services. As a volunteer in the Human Resource Center, I helped patients to obtain health insurance and utilize other nonprofits and government agencies in Baltimore.

Selected as an undergraduate representative to intern with the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Human Services Homeless Services Program. Reviewed and processed over 100 applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, created a database of affordable Senior Housing options in Baltimore City, and wrote a report to analyze the Housing Choice Voucher Program application process. This was a paid position.
